What is a Pulley?
A pulley is a mechanical device used to transmit power, force, and motion in various systems.
It is designed as a wheel with grooves along its edge.
One of the important applications of a pulley is to increase or decrease speed and power in a power transmission system.

Since there are many types of belts and number of grooves in pulleys, they are usually manufactured based on customer requirements and specific industrial needs. In other words, pulleys with more grooves or special belt types are often custom-made according to client specifications.
Pulleys are made from various materials. The choice of material depends on factors such as application needs, working environment, required power, and physical and mechanical properties. Materials commonly used include:
Cast Iron: Used in some pulleys due to its high pressure resistance, flexibility, and heat resistance.
Aluminum: Used in lightweight applications due to its light weight, suitable strength, and thermal properties.
Teflon and Plastic: Some pulleys are made of Teflon or plastic for features such as electrical insulation, corrosion resistance, and light weight.
